fn checked_mul(lhs: u32, rhs: u32) -> u32

Multiplies two lengths, panicking rather than wrapping.

A length describes how many slots a value occupies. Wrapping produces a length with no relation to the type it was derived from — [[u8; 65536]; 65536] becomes a zero-length array — which the consumers of these types have no way to detect.
